Jake is 13 years old and has been sailing since he was 4. He is planning his trip around the world. Jake is in year 7 and plans to leave on his journey at the start of year 8. When Jake was 8 and 9 years old, he and his family spent two years sailing around the world for fun. He has received a formal yachting qualification and has sailed solo close to his home country. In addition, he has both lifeguard and first aid certificates. Jake enjoys fishing and playing basketball when he has free time. Are 13 year olds too young to attempt this adventure on their own?
